a part of the
Jaypee Group was
incorporated in
1995 and owns
one operating
400 MW Vishnu
Prayag Hydro Electric
project, in district
Chamoli, Uttarakhand.
It is a run-of-the-river
hydroelectric
power plant consisiting
of four 100 MW
units on the river
Alaknanda. This
project was fully
commissioned in
October 2006.
We are also implementing
a 1000 MW coal-fired
thermal power
plant in Sidhi
district of the
state of Madhya
Pradesh expected
to commence operations
in 2012 (our Nigrie
Thermal project
, which consists
of two 200 MW
units) for which
we entered into
an implementation
agreement with
the state of Madhya
Pradesh.
JPVL proposes
to subscribe 55.36%
of the equity
capital of Jaypee
Karcham Hydro
Corporation Limited
(JKHCL), which
is implementing
a 1000 MW ( 4*250
MW units) run-of-the-river
hydroelectric
power projects
on the river Sutlej,
in Kinnaur district
of the state of
Himachal Pradesh
, expected to
commence operations
in 2011 (the Karcham
–Wangtoo project)
and 23% of the
equity capital
of Jaypee Powergrid
Limited (JPL),
which is developing
a 230 km long
power transmission
project to evacuate
power from the
Karcham-Wangtoo
project, expected
to commence operations
by 2010 (the Transmission
project).
We plan to implement
projects in Arunachal
Pradesh: 2025
MW Lower Siang
(expected to commence
in 2014) & 500
MW Hirong (expected
to commence in
2015); and in
Meghalaya: 270
MW Umngot and
450 MW Kynshi
(Stage –II) hydro
projects (expected
to commence by
