Ministry of coal promulgated the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) ordinance 2014 to reallocate the coal blocks eiher through auction or allotment to private and government entities respectively to be linked with Captive End Use of Coal. Amelia (North) coal block was earmarked for Power Sector. JPVL had commissioned 2 x 660 MW thermal power plant at Nigrie in Madhya Pradesh participated in the tender process and was declared the bidder. The coal extraction was started in the month of May 2015 and supplies to Jaypee Nigrie Super Thermal Power Project started thereafter.
